The National Service Administration is responsible for conscription, entrance assessments, enlistment and reporting on persons serving in the Total Defence
The National Service Administration is a civil authority that is directly under the Ministry of Defence. Our job is to man the Swedish Total Defence. We do this by putting the right person in the right place and making sure that authorities and organisations can use the competence when they need it.
Every year, the National Service Administration enlists and conducts entrance assessments for tens of thousands of young men and women. Those best suited to each post are conscripted for training in the national service.
We also support military and civil training organisers during the training and active service of those serving in the Total Defence. Much of the Total Defence’s military organisation is kept in our extensive databases. We also keep registers of medical information on all men who have enrolled and are born after 1945.
The National Service Administration has long experience of assessing people and their suitability for different tasks. That is why authorities with uniformed personnel use the National Service Administration to support their recruitment and selection process.
